Career Profile
Executive Director Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association Liana Bratasida Liana Bratasida started her career as a Researcher at Cellulose Research Institute in 1975–1987 and continued in the Ministry of Industry from 1975-1992 as a Researcher at IRDA Ministry of Industry. She was promoted to be a Director for Technical Development Environmental Impact Management Agency (BAPEDAL) which was an operational arm of the Indonesian State Ministry of Environment (MoE) in 1993-2000. In 1988–1992, she worked as a Researcher at Industrial Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Industry. From 1993-1999 she worked at Environmental Impact Management Agency (Bapedal) and in 1998- 2000, she became Deputy for Environmental Management and Control of the Environmental Damage. Since 2000 to 2011, she was trusted as an Assistant Minister for Global Environmental Affairs. Later, she became the Deputy Minister for Environmental Conservation of the MoE in 2002-2003. Since 2004 to 2011, she has been assigned as an Assistant Minister for Global Environmental Affairs and since January 2012 until now she becomes Assistant Team to the State Minister of Environment. In regional scale, she became Asean Senior Official for the Environment (ASOEN) Chair, Chairperson of ASEAN Working Group on Multilateral Environmental Agreements (2004-2009), Chair of ASEAN Working Group on Environmental Sustainable Cities (2009-2011). She is a National Focal Point for Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP), OECD and UNEP. Last July 2011, she was the Expert Speaker in the Rio+20 preparation meeting at Solo, Indonesia focusing on the second theme of Rio+20: ”Strengthening Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development”. She holds undergraduate degree from Bandung Institute of Technology in Biology( 1971-1974) and Master degree from Technical University Delft ( 1978-1979) and Master Degree for Environmental Biology from ITB (1986-1987). Ibu Liana Bratasida adalah tokoh kunci dan Ketua Umum Asosiasi Pulp dan Kertas Indonesia (APKI) yang dikenal sebagai diplomat industri ulung. Beliau berperan vital dalam memperjuangkan industri nasional di kancah internasional, menekankan transformasi hijau, serta memperkuat jejaring komunikasi global untuk sektor pulp dan kertas.
Berikut adalah poin-poin penting perjalanan karir beliau:
Pemimpin APKI Berkarakter: Sebagai Ketua Umum APKI, beliau dikenal tegas, berintegritas, dan proaktif dalam membangun industri yang berkelanjutan.
Diplomat Industri Internasional: Beliau aktif di garda depan menghadapi hambatan dagang dan isu lingkungan global, membuat suara industri pulp dan kertas Indonesia dihormati secara internasional.
Fokus pada Transformasi Hijau: Liana konsisten mendorong pentingnya keberlanjutan dan transformasi menuju industri hijau agar tetap berdaya saing global.
Dedikasi Tinggi: Beliau terus berdedikasi hingga akhir hayat (wafat pada usia 74 tahun di Desember 2025), bahkan masih memberikan arahan strategis rapat kerja APKI sepekan sebelum berpulang.
Pendidikan: Beliau memiliki latar belakang pendidikan yang kuat di bidang biologi dan lingkungan dari ITB dan IHE Delft Institute for Water Education.
