andi BRATASIDA Home About Context Objectives History More information Partners Sessions' Summaries Evaluation Documents UNITED NATION E S C A P The Fifth Asia Pacific Urban Forum Ms. Liana Bratasida, was born in Bandung, Indonesia, on 12 May 1951. She obtained her BSc in Entomology from the Bandung Institute of Technology, ITB (1971-1974), a Diploma of Environmental Science and Technology from the Hydraulic Engineering Delft, the Netherlands (1978-1979) and graduated with an M.Sc in Environmental Biology from the Bandung Institute of Technology, ITB (1985-1987). She started her career as a government official with the Ministry of Industry as a Researcher, she was then promoted as a Director for Technical Development at the Indonesian Environmental Management Agency which is the Executing Agency of the Ministry of Environment. She was later promoted as Deputy Minister for Environmental Conservation of the Ministry of Environment (2002-2003) where she is very much involved in the multilateral environmental agreements ratified by Indonesia. In early 2004, she was assigned as Assistant Minister for Global Environmental Affairs & International Cooperation in the Ministry for the Environment and still holds the position presently, though her duties are more as a policy maker. She is also the Indonesian National Focal Point for Asia Pacific Network for Global Change (APN), and the Indonesian Chair of ASEAN Senior Officials on Environment (ASOEN), and Chair person of ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities. She was a Board Member of ASEAN Peat Land Management Initiative (APMI) and also the Focal Point of Host Country Committee (HCC) of PCF, World Bank. From 2004 until January 2009 she was the alternate member of CDM Executive Board, UNFCCC and Chair of Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), UNFCCC since December 2008. She is also a Board Member of ASIA PACIFIC Regional Centre on Cleaner Production (APRCP). These roles gave her a better insight of the environmental interests of the country and regional members as well as the global interest towards the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation and the Millenium Development Goals, specifically in climate change issues. @ 2011 APUF - 5
